| This is a very exciting time for the harp world. It is the first time we have seen so many virtuosic talents bringing this forgotten instrument to the most important concert halls around the world, all to standing ovations and critical acclaim. To celebrate this achievement Egan Records is proud to present its selection of harp CDs.
All the artists on our recording list have become renowned international ambassadors for the instrument and its music. The majority of these musicians are winners of major international harp competitions: Gwyneth Wentink and Letizia Belmondo received first prize at the International Israel Competition; Jane Yoon and Catrin Finch won the Lily Laskine Competition in France and the latter holds the prestigious post of harpist to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales; Dan Yu was the winner of the USA International Harp Competition in 2002; Maria Luisa Rayan followed in second place and now features in our list of CDs with Latin American harp interpretations. Anna Verkholantseva, previous winner of the International Moscow Competition, appears with acclaimed violinist Alexander Trostiansky. The duo play pieces originally created for harp and violin.
The list of famous names is extensive and we are happy to present established harpists such as Natalia Shameyeva, harpist of the Bolshoi in Moscow, who performs pieces by Russian composers, Elisabeth Fontan-Binoche who plays the music of her teacher and mentor Marcel Tournier and Clelia Gatti Aldrovandi, who executes four concerti commissioned and composed especially for her. Included in the collection is the Ukrainian composer Valeri Kikta, who widens the harp repertoire with his powerful compositions for orchestra and harp. |
